Read About your CLOVER FLEX device
The Clover Flex, as part of the broader mobile POS category, has an expected operational lifespan of 3 to 5 years for the hardware itself, while its battery is designed to last at least 8 hours per charge when new, with a total battery lifespan of about 2 to 3 years before replacement may be needed.
HARDWARE LIFE EXPECTATIONS
- Overall Lifespan: With proper care and maintenance, the Clover Flex hardware typically has a lifespan of 3 to 5 years.
- Durability: The device is built with a durable brushed aluminum casing and a screen featuring chemically strengthened glass to resist impact and daily wear and tear.
- Factors Affecting Longevity:
- Usage Intensity: Devices used in high-traffic environments may wear down faster than those with light use.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to excessive heat, dust, or humidity can shorten the device's life.
- Software Updates: Older models may become obsolete not because the hardware fails, but because the software no longer receives critical security patches or support, making an upgrade necessary for compliance. Clover has previously announced end-of-support dates for older generation devices.
BATTERY LIFE EXPECTATIONS
- Per-Charge Performance: A new Clover Flex battery is designed to support at least 8 hours of typical small to medium business use on a single charge. The newer Clover Flex 2 model boasts an even longer 15-hour battery life.
- Total Battery Lifespan: The rechargeable lithium-ion battery in the device has a general lifespan of 2 to 3 years. Over time, the battery's ability to hold a charge will naturally diminish, and replacement may be necessary to maintain all-day performance.
- Maintenance Tips: To maximize battery life, it is recommended to avoid constantly keeping the device on the charger 24/7 and to fully charge and power off the device for periods of infrequent use.
SUMMARY
The Clover Flex is built for durability and mobility, with an expected hardware lifespan of 3-5 years. While the battery is designed to last a full workday when new, it will likely need replacement after 2-3 years of use. Proper maintenance, care, and staying current with software updates can help ensure you get the most out of your device.

Initial Troubleshooting Steps
If your Clover device is not holding a charge, the issue could range from simple connection problems to a failing battery or charger.
- Verify Power Source: Ensure the charger and power outlet are working correctly. Try plugging another device into the same socket to confirm it has power.
- Check Connections: Make sure all cables are securely connected to the device, the power brick, and the outlet.
- Inspect Ports and Cables: Look for any debris, dust, or visible damage in the charging port or on the charging cable/cradle contacts. Clean them carefully if needed.
- Allow Sufficient Charging Time: A fully drained battery may require several hours to recharge fully. Leave the device on the charger for at least 30 minutes to see if the battery icon appears and indicates charging.
- Perform a Hard Reboot: If the device is unresponsive, a hard reboot can sometimes clear temporary glitches.
- Clover Flex : Remove it from the cradle or unplug the cord, then press and hold the power button for 30-40 seconds. Release, then press it again until the Clover logo appears.
- Clover Mini: Unplug all cables, then press and hold the green power button in the back receipt compartment for at least 20 seconds. Reconnect power and try again.

Advanced Troubleshooting and Solutions
- Try a Different Charging Method (Clover Flex/Compact): You can try charging the device using a USB Type-C cable plugged into the port on the underside of the device, as an alternative to the charging cradle.
- Swap Charger/Cradle: If possible, test the device with a different, compatible charger or charging cradle. Charging issues are often related to a faulty power adapter or cable.
- Check Battery Health: Clover devices do not have a user-facing battery health report feature. However, a significantly diminished ability to hold a charge over time often indicates the battery is reaching the end of its life.
- Note: It is not recommended to keep the Clover Flex on the cradle 24/7, as this can negatively affect battery health over time.
- Contact Support/Order a Replacement: If the above steps fail, the battery may need replacement, or the device may be defective.
